The Index, created by one of the leading ESG rating agencies FTSE Russell, is designed as a sector neutral benchmark and evaluated based on ESG ratings as well as carbon intensity and management attitude towards climate change risks/ opportunities. It is also one of the ESG indices adopted by Government Pension Investment Fund (GPIF), the world’s largest pension fund, which has begun passive investment tracking this Index.
